SLIME CARE

Like all good things in this world, slime has a limited life span. It's normal for slime to shrink or deflate overtime or with excessive play, BUT here are some tips on how to care for your slime and keep it fresh for longer! With proper care, slime can last for several months at least!

🥚 The Basics 🥚✨

  • Always store your slime in an airtight container and keep the lid tightly closed to prevent your slime from drying out! Keep it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
  • Wash your hands before and after you play with slime, and clean your surfaces before play! This prevents dirt and debris from getting into your slime.
  • Play with slime quickly and with the tips of your fingers to prevent it from sticking to you!
  • Pro tip: Moisturize and apply a little bit of activator to your hands before touching your slime.
  • Reactivate your slimes often to prevent them from melting down completely!
  • Reminder: Slime is not edible! Do not eat it, no matter how good it smells, and keep it away from small children, pets, and any fabrics. They are are slime's biggest foes.

🥚 Stiff Slime? 🥚✨

Slime tends to stiffen in cooler conditions, so if your slime is cold or rubbery, try warming it in your hands or letting it sit in a warm, sunny area for a day or so! If your slime is still stiff or over activated, try:

  • Adding small amounts of glycerin or warm water to soften your slime. You can also use lotion for white glue based slimes-- don't do this for clear slimes though!
  • Adding white or clear glue.

🥚 Sticky Slime? 🥚✨

Remember that slime naturally deactivates (melts) on its own, but this happens quicker in warmer temperatures! Try:

  • Setting your slime in the fridge for 30 minutes or more.
  • If it's still sticky, make some activator and add it to your slime!

🥚 Making Activator 🥚✨

Using activator is necessary to create and maintain the chemical reaction that results in slime!

  • Mix 1 tsp. of borax powder in 1 cup of warm water.
  • Stir until fully dissolved.
  • Add slowly! Start by adding 1 or 2 drops of activator to your slime, knead, and repeat.
  • Do this until you get your desired texture!
  • Be careful not to add too much activator too quickly, or your slime may become stiff!
